SERV welcomes Macquarie Asset Management as joint partner alongside Aware Super

07 September 2026

Melbourne, 7 September 2026 – Aware Super and Macquarie Asset Management (MAM) today announced they have entered into an agreement under which MAM, through Macquarie Global Infrastructure Fund (MGIF), will acquire a 50% ownership interest in Secure Electronic Registries Victoria (SERV), the private operator of Victoria’s Register of land, from Aware Super.

Aware Super will retain and manage the remaining 50% ownership and remains a committed long-term investor in SERV.

SERV holds a 40-year concession, granted by the Victorian Government in 2018, to operate and administer functions within Victoria’s Register of land, processing more than nine million transactions a year and playing a critical role in Victoria’s property ecosystem. Since 2018, SERV has improved services, enhanced data security and operational resilience, invested to modernise technology and promote innovation, and above all else, preserved the integrity of the Register.

MAM and Aware Super have a strong track record of partnering together on data, technology and critical infrastructure assets, including VicRoads, Vocus, 2degrees and NSW Land Registry Services, which makes them well positioned to deliver SERV’s commitment to ongoing security, reliability and modernisation. The partners bring extensive experience in essential infrastructure and a focus on delivering high-quality services over the long term.

Maria Donnelly, Senior Portfolio Manager, Aware Super, said:

“This transaction brings together two long-term infrastructure owners with a shared commitment to supporting SERV’s continued success. We are pleased to welcome Macquarie Asset Management as our partner and remain a committed 50% shareholder, continuing to actively manage our investment and support the delivery of secure, reliable and innovative registry services for Victoria.”

John Danieli, Managing Director, Macquarie Asset Management, said:

“We are excited to invest in an essential piece of Victoria’s economic infrastructure to support the ongoing security, reliability and modernisation of the services the community needs.”

“MGIF’s proposed investment in SERV is another example of MAM’s extensive experience and strong track record in modernising and digitising land and motor registries in multiple Australian jurisdictions.”

“We look forward to partnering with Aware Super, a partner we know well, to support SERV in delivering trusted, secure services for Victorians and the property industry.”

Andrew Faber, Chief Executive Officer, SERV, said:

“SERV is proud of our track record as the private operator of Victoria’s Register of land, working in collaboration with the State to support Victoria’s property market and enabling Victorians to make informed decisions about land and property ownership every day.”

“We welcome Aware Super’s partnership with Macquarie Asset Management, another aligned, highly credentialed and experienced long-term investor in businesses providing essential public services right across Australia.”

“For SERV’s customers, employees and the Victorian public, it’s business as usual – SERV will continue to deliver exceptional services, invest and modernise to respond to Victoria’s evolving needs, and safeguard the security, resilience and integrity of Victoria’s Register of land.”

Completion is expected in Q4 2026 subject to customary conditions and regulatory approvals.

Barrenjoey acted as financial adviser and Allens as legal adviser to Aware Super. Macquarie Capital and Gresham acted as financial advisers and Mallesons as legal adviser to MAM.
