Electronic Conveyancing Release 2.0 commences
Release 2.0 of the Electronic Conveyancing (EC) System commenced on 16 November 2007.
It builds on the successful deployment of Release 1.0 of the EC System launched 21 August 2006.
EC Release 2.0 allows electronic financial property settlement, the lodgement of land transfers, mortgages and discharges of mortgage and withdrawal of caveats (not stand alone) into Land Victoria, and electronic payment of duty to the State Revenue Office.
The first group of subscribers to EC Release 2.0 will include:

- VicUrban
- GLN Conveyancing Services Pty Ltd
- Land & Property Transfers
- Link Conveyancing
- Low Cost Conveyancing Services
- Metropolitan Conveyancing Services
- McIntosh & Gaynor
- Victorian Real Estate Conveyancing Pty Ltd
- Victor Tse & Associates
- Rainbow Conveyancing Pty Ltd
Subscription requirements
Any organisation may become an EC System Subscriber and use the EC System provided they meet eligibility criteria specified in the EC System Rules and the Registrar’s Requirements (available online at www.landexchange.vic.gov.au/ec/legal_framework/index.html).
Minimum requirements to become a Subscriber are:
- an Australian Business Number
- a Victorian Online Titles System Customer Code
- insurance (as stated in the Registrar’s Requirements).
For a property transaction to be processed through the EC System, all parties must be EC System Subscribers. Subscribers will require consent from their clients to process a transaction through the EC System.
The existing paper-based conveyancing system will continue to operate alongside the EC System.

Edition 94 of the Land Victoria Customer Information Bulletin (October 2006) provided an explanation of the changes customers will see as a result of the introduction of EC. It contained information on electronic instruments, electronic certificates of title, administrative notices and changes to the Register Search Statement.
