Andrew Faber Appointed Victorian Land Registry Service CEO

Victorian Land Registry Services (VLRS) Chair, Cheryl Batagol, today announced the appointment of Mr Andrew Faber as Chief Executive Officer.

Mr Faber has been a Director of the VLRS Board since the commercialisation of land titles functions in September 2018 and has been acting as Interim CEO since 2 March 2020.

Ms Batagol said that stability, certainty and experience were vital for VLRS, particularly in the current environment.

“VLRS is at a critical juncture, having completed the transition from Government in November 2019, and is embarking on the next phase of its evolution as a company in a period of global uncertainty and disruption.

The Board of VLRS needs a CEO with full authority now and consequently has appointed Andrew Faber as CEO.  Andrew has agreed to do this until 31 December 2021 and to step down as a Director of the Board during this period.

Andrew has a long track record of success with VLRS, having worked closely with First State Super on its commercialisation bid, serving as a Board Director since the company’s formation and more recently performing the role of Interim CEO.

I have had the opportunity to work with Andrew since my appointment as Chair. He has a deep understanding of the business and its relationship with key stakeholders, extensive experience in public to private commercialisation, especially in land title registries and the trust and support of our shareholder First State Super.

Andrew is the ideal person to lead VLRS at this time, and he has the utmost confidence of the Board. We are completely aligned on the company’s priorities, and he now has the full authority to deliver.”

Andrew Faber said it was a privilege to be appointed CEO of VLRS.

“I believe strongly in the opportunities for VLRS to create public good and shareholder value as a provider of essential services to the people of Victoria.

“I am proud of everything VLRS has achieved to date, and I look forward to continuing to build on that success. I am particularly proud of the way our people have responded to the current crisis.

“Every employee of VLRS has a profound sense of respect for the important role we play in maintaining the integrity of the titles register and providing services which underpin the entire Victorian property market.

“Our operating model is unique, and our partnership with Government is critical to our ability to deliver outstanding services to our customers.

“We derive strength from the support of our shareholder, First State Super, whose member-first ethos is aligned fully with our organisational values.

“These are some of the critical factors that will define our success. I am passionate about VLRS and am grateful for the opportunity to shape its future.”
